The Block Workout Story
Block Workout born
Terroll Lewis developed a street exercise movement that sought to cultivate a healthy lifestyle by making the use of everyday items and surroundings.
The same year, Terroll delivered his first community sessions in Kennington Park.
The sessions became extremely popular with young people from the area. Terroll also offered support in education, training and employment as well as providing informal mentoring. The young people told him they had nowhere else to go, no one else who would listen, understand and not judge
Block Workout Foundation set up
The Block Work Out Foundation was set up to embed Block Work Out within the local community ensuring that every young person needing support, someone to believe in them, something to keep them active or just somewhere to go, can get involved in the foundation and change their life for the better.
Block Workout wins the community vote which sees the old changing rooms in Brockwell Park developed into the second street gym for Block WorkOut
In March 2015 The Block Workout Foundation gains charitable status and assigns a board of trustees.
The Block Workout Foundation recruits instructors and delivers a programme of sessions in Lambeth including two community sessions a week.
